Modkid swimming suit

I've been meaning to post this for at least two weeks... but it's been hectic around here lately. For one thing, I've started looking for a new job, closer to home. I'm not sure this is the right thing to do. I wish someone paid me for the things I like doing :-)

Anyway, my girls started swimming lessons last week. I think my 5 years old is too young, but my husband didn't agree. Time will tell. In the meantime, I made the swimming suits from the modkid book.(Look here to see more of the items I made from this book..)

This is not the first time I'm sewing swimming suits, It's not easy for me. But this pattern is! Really! (This is my previous nice swimming suits I made).

Here's what I got... The pictures are bad, from home, with all the mess around... but you forgive me, right?
The pattern review..

What can I tell... it's such an easy cute pattern, and yet so modern and with good coverage, I LOVE it, and so do the girls. The explanations are great, the fit is wonderful!
Will I make it again? yes, for sure! as long as my girls like it!
Do I recommend it? yes, the easiest swimsuit pattern ever!
Sizing: As all the patterns in the book - goes up to age 10... I still have a year or two for my oldest :-)
On another note and from another book, my 8 years old wanted to make her teacher a birthday present. Here's what she made... it's the cutest little dog from Girls world, The fantastic book by Jennifer Paganelli.

Look how proud she is!

And yes, I helped her a bit, but she did most of the work by herself...

That's it for now. Happy Shavout all of you, and have a good week!

The handkerchief hem dress - another (great) e-pattern

I told you I bought several new ePatterns lately, This is the second one

I wanted it because... well, isn't it a cute dress? It goes up to size 5, so I only bought it because as soon as my little one starts walking I can dress her with such a cute dress! But in the meantime I made it for my 5 years old, who really doesn't need any more dresses! not even one!!!

and look... Isn't she adorable???

Pattern review:

Great instructions, great sizing.

The pattern has several features that enable fitting of the dress (such as the placement of the botton holes in the back), which I like, because the dress will fit great even next year.

The front part is made out of two parts, and you need to put a ribbon to connect them, but infact, you do not this front opening to put the dress on, because the dress is wide enough due to the back opening. I may just put that ribbon in the front for decor purposes only next time, and cut the front on the fold...

I love the pattern, because it is cute, and special, and yet - very easy. If you can sew button holes, you can sew this dress.

To another issue, I had my cast removed, and while I still find it difficult to walk and my ankle is swollen, I'm going back to work tomorrow... less creativity time... but a good thing I guess.. (I worked from home these past few weeks, but being home, I allowed myself some time for creative issues here and there... no more of that!)

and one last thing... I want to make myself a dress... can anyone recommend a pattern that is easy, comfortable, not too revealing and fit a not-very-thin woman in her late 30s with a big bottom part??????

Thanks! and have a good week!

The Ceci shorts - e-pattern

First, sorry - there are no line breaks in this post. why is that???? I put them is but they are not displayed... SORRY!!!! I hope blogger fix it soon!!!!!!!!!! Now to my post: I do not usually buy ePatterns. Somehow it feels that there's more value in a paper pattern.. for me at least. Plus, I really hate having to print the pages, tape them all together, and cut them. I'd much rather pay for the delivery of the pattern to me. But sometimes the patterns I want are available only in the form of ePatterns... This was the case with several patterns I bought lately. (Yes, several, there are more reviews like this one to come). The first e-pattern I'll review is the Ceci shorts. I wanted shorts for my 8 years old, that will be convenient (as in no-zipper), and still look 'cool' as she put it. I thought the Ceci shorts will work. And I was right... I made two pairs, size 8 (the largest size this pattern has). The fit is great! My girl LOVES these new shorts.
My 5 years old asked for a pair too.. I reminded her how she insisst of going with skirts/dresses only... so she agreed with me, no point in making it for her. Pattern review: What can I say.. Great pattern! As I said, the fit is great, The explanations are great. For both version I used some kind of drill for the main fabric and wither soft baby cord or drill for the tie fabric. My only issue with this pattern is that it goes up to size 8 only... when for my the sizes below are kind of useless, as my 5 years old prefer skirts... But anyway, highly recommended pattern! Have a good week!
