scarfs... and more scarfs...

Hi all! I spent a lot of time on the sofa lately... getting a bit depressed that I can't be productive during this free time I have... So my mom bought me some yarn.. some very cute yarn... and look what I've made!
I made six of those so far, and I have another one in progress. I plan to give those as end-of-the-year presents for all the care takers of the kids... Aren't the cute? Now, I really cannot knit, never could! Crochet maybe.. just maybe, but knit... never. But this one is so easy! I found this great guide right here... And I made this cute little bag for storing my scarfs until I pack them nicely and give them away...
I hope to get rid of the cast on Friday, keep your fingers crossed for me!

More of Modkid new book...

So,I was able to sit for a little while, and finish the new items that I already started for this great Modkid book. I made my 5 years old the bubble dress (size 104 cm, but modifies to be much narrower and shorter), and leggings (also size 104, the fit is perfect).
And i made the bubble skirt for my 8 years old. I used the correct sizing for her (132 cm), but it came a bit too wide. Next time I'll make it a size smaller. An important note, though the pattern calls for stretch fabrics, I thought that for this particular pattern it might work with wovens too. And it did - denim for the belt and cotton for the skirt part.
The girls are happy with their new outfits, and I'm planning more for the summer. I need to get started with swimming suits, shorts and tops for my 8 years old, a dress for my 5 years old... and hopefully a new outfit for each baby for their coming birthday!! (Yes, they will be one year old in two and a half months!!!). In the meantime I knit a little bit, since sitting at the sewing machine is still difficult. And from work they sent a laptop home... no more free time, I am getting back to work... hope to make some progress this week!

Modkid New Book...

So, I mentioned this on my last past...
I got the book about 3 weeks ago and started right away.

I started to work on the bubble dress right away!
I meant to sew this cute casual dress for my 5 years old. As it turned out, it was way too baggy on her, too long and too wide (it is also the same in the book... it's meant to be this way). So I tried the dress also on my 8 years old. It's a bit too short for her, but SO CUTE! (with leggings, of course).

I then cut the same size again, but I took off a couple of inches from the length and width of the top part this time, I think it'll fit my 5 years old better.
But... all I have left to do to complete this dress is the neck opening and hemming of the sleeves, and I can't sew now, till my leg gets better...
So all I can show you now is the first dress, again, originally for a 5 years old but modeled on my 8 years old...
Isn't is adorable???

Now, about the book..
It's all stretch items, all seem very casual and usefull items. I think I'll sew most of them, because stretch clothes are always so comfortable, and if they are also cute...
My favorite are the bubble dress, the leggings, the gloves, the bathing suits... the tops are also very very cute.
It'll take some time, but I know I'll make it all.
It's a great book, filled with really great items for girls, very practical, comfortable and cute!
The instructions (of the bubble dress) are very good, the patterns paper is very high quality, the whole package is very attractive...
Great buy!
It's a good thing my little girl is only 9 months old :-)
